Gilbert Family Monthly

Another month complete and so much going on in the world of rugby.

We are nearing the end of the RBS 6 Nations, while European domestic rugby is reaching crucial period. Meanwhile, down in the Southern Hemisphere we are underway with Super Rugby.

As always, let us know if we can help you.

All the best,

Andrew Challis

Gilbert Rugby Global Brand Manager

World Rugby 7s

As the HSBC World Rugby 7s series continues to roll on, we want to thank Cameron and Rugby Imports for taking over our Instagram account for the weekend. Cameron took some great behind the scenes pictures as Gilbert’s man on the ground – a crucial role as we show World Rugby that we can activate our partnerships.

Take a look at our Instagram here.

Chile were representing Gilbert at the World Rugby 7s in Las Vegas and Vanouver, wearing their red Gilbert kit. Los Cóndores gave a great account of themselves and claimed a brilliant 10-0 win over Russia at the Canada 7s. Their 15-a-side team was also a part of the Americas Rugby Championship this month.

UK News

As we approach the end of the RBS 6 Nations, we are sure you’ll agree it has been a fantastic tournament. There has been some brilliant exposure for Gilbert – not least in ITV’s television titles, where Gilbert features heavily. If you need any further support in the final week of the competition, get in touch with the team in the UK by emailing marketing@gilbertrugby.com

Gilbert schools have had more success in the Natwest Schools Cup. Firstly, Warwick School qualified for the U18 Cup Final after a huge battle with fellow Team Gilbert school Felsted at Allianz Park. Then it was confirmed that there will be a Team Gilbert derby in the final of the U18 Vase Final after both Trent College and Royal Latin School won their semi-finals.

Americas Rugby

The Americas Rugby Championship came to a close with a dramatic game in Buenos Aires. Needing a draw to win the tournament, the USA Eagles were behind heading into the last few minutes and down two players – but a last-gasp Ben Cima conversion drew them level and they held on for the title. It was a stellar tournament for Cima – who has just been announced as Gilbert’s newest Brand Ambassador (see website and social media for all coverage). The 20 year old finished as the competition’s joint highest scorer and excelled at both Fly-Half and Full Back.

Inspired by a conversation with our Colombian distributor Lucas Marroquin, we have written a blog on the rise of rugby in the country. The article has gone down very well, and we’d like to roll this out for as many countries and territories as possible. If you’d like your country or region featured, please get in touch and supply us as much details as possible about rugby where you are. You can read the Colombia story here or email marketing@gilbertrugby.com to tell us your story.
