Moreno attacks late for Vuelta stage win in Fisterra

First Stage win for Compressport's sponsored Katusha!

Daniel Moreno (Katusha) won stage 4 of the Vuelta a Espana (from Lain to Fisterra) with a perfectly timed attack on the last climb. The Spaniard launched his move with less than one kilometre to go, soaring passed a fading Juan Antonio Flecha (Vacansoleil-DCM) and holding off a chase from Fabian Cancellara (RadioShack Leopard), Michael Matthews (Orica GreenEDGE) and the rest of the peloton.

Purito climbs up in the general classification too!

CompresSport: Katusha Team @Vuelta Espana 2013

Some of you may have already started following the race. The Tour of Spain (Vuelta Espana), one of the 3 Grand Tours, has started on the week-end and Compressport sponsored team is of course racing.
Purito Rodriguez and his team mates are aiming for nothing else than another overall classification podium and stage wins. 11 out of the 22 stages are mountain stages which should favour Purito!

The first stage was a team time trial which wasn't great for the team as they only finished 12th but there is still a long way to go.

Nicolas Roche (Saxo Bank Tinkoff) took one of the biggest wins of his career to take the second stage of the 2013 Vuelta a Espana from Pontevedra to the summit of Alto Do Monte Da Groba. The Irishman joined a select group inside the final 2 kilometres of the stage and attacked inside the final few hundred meters before holding off Daniel Moreno (Katusha), with Domenico Pozzovivo (AG2R La Mondiale) rounding out the top three. So a first podium for Katusha.

Christopher Horner (RadioShack-Leopard) pulled away today in the final kilometre of the third stage of the Vuelta a Espana to claim the victory atop the category three Mirador de Lobeira. The top favourites finished only seconds behind him, with Alejandro Valverde second and Joaquim Rodriguez third for a second stage podium in 2 days for the team!
